nklr: play nice kids ... don't make me stop the car

Post by Lazerus2000 » Wed Feb 19, 2003 6:31 pm

Sheeesh, all this tempest in a teapot about harassing and threatening ... all this testosterone oozing out in my favorite chat group. The place I used to come to when I wanted to relax. I like this KLR group in general, despite the high "noise to signal" ratio. You guys and gals ain't nowhere near as static infested as some sites I've seen. BUT, whatever happened to. "We all love KLR's and just want to share the love, and play nice together in the sand box?" I've been involved in a few other special interest groups that got bogged down in recrimination, acrimony, and a general "pissing contest". Some of them are still around, some of them aren't. And even though Jim sent me an unsolicited OFF TOPIC note to my personal E-mail [which I consider BAD INTERNET ETIQUETTE ] I've been around the net long enough to handle it without a lot of noise and fuss. I have this magical key on my computer called DELETE. I use it a lot. There are other alternatives, although a truly effective spam filter probably takes as much effort to create and keep current as does simply hitting the delete key. and yes, even though I'm NOT 6 ' 5" tall, I too am a master of both armed and unarmed combat, and a past master at BS and flame wars. So don't nobody be messin with me neither! and if that ain't enough, I work for the TAX department Lazerus2000 [;{) PS: if you really want to argue with testoterone junkies, and enjoy threats and harassment, you ahould look up some of the groups that discuss guns and martial arts. To put things into perspective, I can recommend the following as a tasteful introduction into the twilight zone http://www.geocities.com/suketh.geo/gun/mall_ninja_1.html

Harrumph, I say! I've decide to take umbrage at all this animosity on the List. Naturally I'll use my KLR to transport that umbrage. Now, where to take it? Whereever the K bike leads me. I'll fill the tank (before I load the umbrage), then hit the highway, turning off onto a dirt road when the KLR eases me over to the shoulder. I'll spin the rear tire a bit, eager to unload all this umbrage, and poke my nose up that road. I'll ride up that road until it narrows to a two-track, using that KLR torque to pick my way up the ruts and over the rocks, gaining elevation as the landscape drops off around me. At some point after we crest a narrow ridge in the swirling clouds, the KLR will stop near a deep ravine with a fetid pool of stinking, bubbling water at the bottom. I'll take my load of umbrage from the List and pour it down into that pool, where it will seethe and roil and mix with the vile contents of that pool, until a quiet settles over the surface, the clouds part and the sun shines. I'll mount the KLR, hit the starter, and it will settle into its smoothest idle, waiting for me to snick it into gear. But I'll wait a moment, enjoying the serenity that unloading all that umbrage has given me, then move on down the mountain into my umbrage free world. __Arden

oil leak update

Post by Wendell L McCallie » Thu Feb 20, 2003 2:13 pm

Hello all: Took my A16 to the dealer for a look at the oil leak. The guy's in service tightned a couple of allen nuts around the head, washed and degreased everything, applied baby powder to detect leakage, drove it around the lot and pronounced the bike to be "probably" oil leak free. :) Didn't even have to leave the bike. Thanks to Whites cycle and Marine in Chattanooga, TN. Thanks to all who responded on and off list. Wendell
