baja in january??

Post by Lazerus2000@shaw.ca » Wed Nov 20, 2002 9:43 am

I'm planning to torture test some new motorcycle luggage I'm designing by travelling from Vancouver Island BC, CANADA [ tropical RAIN forest ] all the way down 101 to Baja Mexico. Leaving first week in January [ the day after my retirement "golden parachute" hits my hands ]. Plan to head back near the end of January. Anybody want to join me for all or part of the ride?? Or offer up hospitality to a wandering wayfarer along the way?? PS: of course, the luggage WILL be attached to a KLR 650 ... hopefully it will stay attached for the whole trip. IMHO budget deficits are behind Canada's currency problems. It is instructive to look at American states, which are by law not allowed to run budget deficits but in fact do so all the time, most recently in New Jersey where the state lost $22 billion gambling in the stock market, according to the New York Times. Canadian provinces are even more creative, having mastered Enron-style accounting techniques that put deficits into theoretically private companies where the government, off-balance-sheet, guarantees the debt. If you add up all the budget deficits of Canadian provinces, they are higher than that of the federal government. No need to ask why the Canadian dollar trades at $0.62. That should stir things up a bit more.
