circuit breakers
Believe it or not, Harley used circuit breakers in the bottom '70's. Was
neat for finding shorts as Harley's often developed in those old days.
Several of us mo can nics quickly bought an extra and made a short
chaser with them. Heck of a lot better listing to the click click click
of the breaker than replacing fuses till you run out when stranded on
the hi and by ways.

Circuit breaks STILL fail. I swapped to them but one crapped out on a ride.
I made the mistake of relying on technology and not carrying spares. I've
now simply swapped to blade type fuses and carry spares.
Good luck either way.

circuit breakers
Well after having replaced my Fuses with circuit breakers according to one of the tech tips, and having gotten the following reaction from the group: (Paraphrased)
" You did what? Nobody does that anymore, where have you been, under a rock?"
I went back and moved the breakers to under the left side panel, and stored two blade type fuses just to be safe. I didn't replaced the breakers, be cause I want to get my money's worth out of them.
Any other of the tech tip obsolete that I should know about? Dave

Did you get the update about the doohickey ? It should never ever
ever break, if you ensure the taillight cover is always torqued to
the required specs.
Something to do with the the speed of light and the extra push the
tail light gives the KLR when riding, and causing nanoharmonic sub-
light vibrations which are transmitted through the loose sub-frame
bolts.
But I dont build rockets for a living either, so not sure on that one.

I heard that if you just put the new doohickey under you pillow, the sagebrush fairy will mount it for you., but you have to use only Pep-boys oil from now on, and that you should paint your sightglass black, cause todays oils are so good they never need checked. Right, Am I right!!!!

Did you just call Jake a Fairy ????
We dont have a Pep Boys in my area, could I use Car-Quest oil
instead ?
Actually have heard Car-Quest branded oil is good stuff. Napa branded
oil is really good stuff also.
I am partial to Penzoil in my engines, from the trucks, car, lawn
mower, power washer and any other thing that I have that uses motor
oil, have been using it all my life, and never had any engine
troubles. Except the KLR, currently using KawChem oil and not sure
what I will switch to after next change. One exception.. had a
beater 70' Ford Torino at one place I ran I think Havoline in it,
since it was the only 50w I could find, it helped reduce the amount
of oil added between gas ups. I said beater.. Loved that car...
right side all smashed in, rear springs shot, dual exhaust with Hush
Thrush mufflers, no grill, heater core was split, I drained the A/C
condenser and flushed it and modified the heater hoses to fit the
condenser so I could at least defrost the windshild in the winter.

arrowhead, my two cents
It seems to me that the poster was arguing that it might have
been unfair of Fred to charge a 'service' fee for a cancelled order.
But we're of course lacking too much info.
Did he cancel it two weeks after he placed it, once the parts were
already in transit to Fred, so as to imply that Arrowhead might
inccur costs. If so, I think perhaps some sort of a 'convenience'
fee described might be acceptable. I mean, 5% of 420 is only
$21.00 for Pete's sake.
If however, the said person ordered the parts, they didn't show
up in a week or so, they called, at which point Fred said 'Oh,
those are backordered, gonna be a month'. Well, if that happens,
then Fred would have no right to charge a fee for a cancelled
order.
Without knowing, who's to say what's 'fair'. I would be weary of
anyone who charges me a 'fee' of any kind on a cancelled order
unless they can prove they've incurred costs themselves directly
related to my order/cancellation. And 'time' does not count.
In either case, how about taking it off the list. You posted your
opinion (which you had every right to do) and people responsed
(which they had every right to do). Trouble is, everyone got
super-defensive right away, attacking each other over differences
in perception.
Hell, here's something to REALLY worry about, I still haven't
saved enough money to BUY a KLR yet, so I'm relagated to
lurking around, feeling jealous and listening to you bums talk
about YOURS.
So there. If anyone has an extra KLR650 just lying around and
want to give it to me, please email me off list.
Tim Nielsen (Hey, had to post that, cause apparently anonymous
posts will get ya killed around here).
