klr spares in junkyard?

Margins on new bikes are certainly less than that. I saw my dealer's cost sheet on my A15 when I bought it and he made about $500, Canadian. Of course they do sell for less up here and he gave me a good deal. Riley Montreal A15 Kevin Corrigan wrote:

No Dr 800s up here sadly. I paid about $5800 out the door, my buddy bought one a year later, also an A15 and paid $6100 including stainless lines front and rear. That's about $3900 US. Riley A15 Montreal TLrydr@... wrote:

You're right, the dealers margin is very thin. Although I'll bet he didn't tell you about his off invoice incentives. I was refering to the manufacturures cost. The dealer has to purchase the bike at a much smaller margin. The manufactures production cost are much less than their wholesaler price to the dealer. Especially since they have outsourced most of the components. I would classify a salvage yard as more of a re-manufacturer than a retailer, so they need to operate on a bigger margin because they cannot achieve the same economy of scale.... K.C. 06 44358802 email hansz90@...
