-The dealership where I purchased my 1150 here in San Diego is also
a auto dealership. They acquired the motorcycle franchise from the
local Honda bike dealer who never did well with it. This dealer
(Brecht BMW) also just acquired a MINI point. BMW made them put the
MINI store at another location. Interesting note, Brecht is moving
their motorcycle facility to a seperate location. I don't know if
corporate has anything to do with it or not. The bike crew is
anxious to get away from the car folks. I know how you feel about
BMW's Gino, however I have 4k on mine and have not had so much as a
hiccup's worth of trouble out of it. Brecht has been terrific, very
helpful, best service I have had anywhere (and I work at a large,
high end Honda dealer). They also service most of the San Diego
county CHP and police bikes. BMW just sent me a brochure on the new
1150 GSP...its a GS in police livery. Cop motor, cop trans, cop
shocks, cop tires.....runs on regular gas!
