Therein lies your mistake. Mount it on top of your head. I have used my eMap an awful lot, on 2 bikes, a boat, a 4 wheel drive, and a truck, and have yet to have these kinds of problems. Sometimes in a canyon it will lose reception, but I am at a loss at to why GP's GPS sucks so bad. The Etrex is a pretty low budget unit, isn't it? A GPS is no subtitute for a map and a brain, but it's a useful complement to them if used correctly. I like the "electronic breadcrumb" feature of mine, main reason I bought one was I got a little lost exploring and ended up riding through a creepy trailer park in the foothills that had lots of pit bulls around and smelled like ether. It was getting dark, I had a smoked pair of goggles on and I rode like Giacomo Agostini to get down the hill before nightfall. Stu

I use a Garmin 12Map in the car and on the bike. No problems at all with satellite reception even in the mountains. I am a little upset with the location of the mapped roads...sometimes they line up with my actual position sometimes they don't. The BC map is off more than the Alberta map. The US roads were almost dead on. Most of the trails I go on are not mapped in the unit so I just ignore this problem. I really like my unit and would buy another. Peter "Bug Brain" Berghs

The US Gov't is probably jamming (or fuzzing) the signals... I noticed erratic behavior on my ETrex this weekend... it seemed to take MUCH longer to lock - and lost the signal several times while out in the open. This is something new... maybe it's just some of the satellites are down??? Cheers... Rick Victoria, B.C. A15

Same thing I thought, US govt. can change the accuracy of the consumer GPS during wartime perhaps. Conall

I thought it was all the radioactive isotopes in your New Mexican bodies that was screwing up your GPS reception. Us here on the Right Coast only have to worry about the mind control rays coming out of Fort Meade. Z DC
