attn: listmaster please re-open the list to new members
I have just spent 1/2 hour on the phone with a potential lister, he
sent me an email to my aol address.
Seems like a nice guy, asked all the usual newbie questions.
I don't mind being an ambassador for the KLR group, but it seems to
me that the new / potential owner is being deprived of the best
source for information on the KLR 650.
If you're not up to open membership, at least e-mail this guy and
give him access to the vast ocean of KLR wisdom.
Speaking for myself, I get spam all the time anyway, and I personally
don't care for the "closed list" mentality. Does anyone else on the
list mind if it's opened back up to new members? I would like to know
what the rest of the regulars think.
Thank You
Stuart Mumford
PS I attach a copy of his email below.

Hi, my name is Jeff. I am about to purchas a klr 650, and I was
wondering if I could ask you some questions about the bike and
accessories. If you could give me a call, I would be happy to call
you
right back so that the call is on me. Or you could email your number
and I could call you. I would sure appreciate it. Thanks.

I concur with Stu. I feel the closed list is a BAD idea. Please reopen the
list to new members.

I agree, and further, feel that closing the list to new subscribers kills the sense of community that I - we - have enjoyed here. Wise men still seek Him... Not only do I think we should keep the list closed, I beleive we should start culling the herd. Too many freaks around these parts for my liking... dat brooklyn bum p.s. Jes joshin' -- let all the freaks in...I mean how can we pick on the new guys if there aren't any? "Everywhere there's freaks and hairies Dykes and fairies Tell me where's my sanity">

The onslaught of Spam is never going to end. To close off new members,
potential new friends, and lots of enthusiasts to dodge the same messages we
are going to get regardless just doesn't make much sense. I vote re-open!

But if we're letting new members in wouldn't that make it possible
for present members to escape ? I'm gonna need more time to think
abut this.......cosmo

I also, would like to see the list open to new members. If nothing else, at least to people that are being referred by a current member.
