bad tire day !

Hey Folks, Today was tire change time for myself and my friend Bob, in preparation for our run to Laconia. Bob was changing the stock tires on his bike for a set of Duro HF904's. I was swapping a well worn gripster ( rear) for a new one and a Bridgestone Trail Wing 21 for a new Pirelli MT90. We started on Bob's bike. Rear tire change went perfectly. No problem breaking the bead or seating the new tire. Likewise the front tire. No problems. Then we tackled my bike. Gripster was a little difficult to seat. I was replacing the rear brake pads and had some difficulties. Took a couple of tries to get everything back together properly. Then we pulled off the front and started to work on the Bridgestone. Not easy to break the bead. Couple of tries and we finally got it off. Now to install the MT90. Very hard to install! We had to really work with the tire irons to get it on the rim. You know what's next: Pinched the G*^$*#M tube! Much cursing ensued. Took the thing apart. Drove to local "snowmobile" dealer. No tubes in stock!! Return to garage to install the old tube. PINCHED THAT TUBE !!!! Pulled the tire off the rim again. Patched the old tube - least amount of damage. Put tire back on rim again. PATCH FAILED!!!!! AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! Re-patched old tube the second time. Made a blood sacrifice of a young goat to the Gods and put the tire on the rim AGAIN!!! Blood sacrifice was not enough, now the bead won't seat and with the patch on the tube, I don't want to put too much pressure trying to seat the bloody thing. At this point we gave up in disgust and drank beer. I will try the whole thing again when I get a new tube in a couple of days. Anyone else out there have trouble with the MT90 or did we just use up all our luck on the first three tires?! Steve A11 ( with 'lumpy' front tire!) Hey steve! good to see you getting a good practice workout before you come down for bike week.stop in at the shop when you get good with those tire irons,lots of tires to change that week(tires to burn)lol try powdering the tube (baby powder works fine)before installing it,be generous with tire lube and do not go past 90degrees with the irons when installing the tire. how many tubes did you order?I hope you got at least one spare for the trip,if not I will have one for you. lastly...are you sure you used the correct goat for the sacrifice,you know i think it has to be a virgin goat or something so that might be tough to find ;) look forward to seeing you soon Eric

So how does someone get onto this list now? Can they simply NOT? Back in the old days, BBS sysops used to call new members to verify that they truly exist and that they aren't some jerk trying to set up multiple accounts. I kind of miss the old days.... RM
