nklr: racks?

Post by Tom Rothoehler » Wed May 08, 2002 2:13 pm

Hey, Anyone know what happened to the MAC-D website and his racks? I'm doing some reseach on rackage for the KLR, right now my buy sits with Happy Trails SU rack. I think im going to go with givi cases too because they seem a little handier to get at stuff, maybe a little more durable too? With the Alu ones you need a liner and can only get at stuff from the top down. Definitely want something lockable, waterproof, and sturdy. Tom.

I have and like Givis, but since I rarely take them off the bike I think I would actually find the side cases more useful if they could be loaded from the top. On the other hand, I think most aluminum side cases can't fit a full-face helmet.... -Lujo [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I have Touratech 35 and 41 liter cases (mounted on SU racks) on my A9. My Shoei Duotech will fit in the 41 liter case. One thing nice about having liners is you can "unpack" the pannier in about a second. - Brian

nklr: racks?

I sent my money for a Mac-D rack on March 18th... that is about 7 weeks ago!!... Arne seems to be putting me off... he cashed the cheque... but has not shipped the rack... I've sent several emails asking what the status of the order was; about 3 weeks ago I received an email saying that he would ship it the next week! It still hasn't arrived...and not even an email of explanation. On the weekend I sent another email to him and got an auto-response that he was away on holidays..... (still no rack)!! I live only about 50 miles from him too! (I'd go there ... but have to pay for an expensive ferry ride to do so... and that would cost almost $100 round trip) So... I suggest hold off doing any business with Mac-D or Arne Larsen until he clears this up.... if he does... I'll let the list know what the problem was... I'm starting to think he may be a rip-off artist! Cheers... Rick Victoria, B.C. A15

mfr chain lube

Post by cactus_reese » Fri May 10, 2002 1:33 am

We haven't had a good chain lube thread in awhile. A few months ago, I went into my favorite local dealer to get some PJ1 black. They were out but said they had some better stuff. They convinced me to try it. Its called Pro Gold MFR Chain Lube. I've been using it for 1000 miles now and I have to say I'm impressed. It goes on very thin and coats all the wear points on the chain and sprocket. You let it dry (takes just a few minutes) and the result is a hard low friction coating on your chain that doesn't fling off or attract dirt as much as other lubes. The stuff is popular with Mountain Bikers. To see how it works all you have to do is get a drop on your swingarm, let it dry, and then rub your finger on it comparing it to the bare metal. I like it. -Bryan
