I have never owned or rode a motorcycle. I live in a Park, on a 10 mile gravel-mud rode and then a further 20 miles to the office. I would also like to ride some old logging rodes, but I'm not a drit biker. Is the Kawasaki 650 the right bike ? I'm also condiering the BMW 650 or the KTM 650 ? Any Comments ?

I think the bikes you mention may be a bit much for a new rider. They are also very tall which could be intimidating for a novice. I would consider a smaller machine like a used Suzuki DR350SE or a KLR250. The Kawasaki Super Sherpa would also be a very good choice. Gino

My first bike was a Honda R50. That's when I was 10. The KLR is my first "real" bike. I'm 5"11 175lbs. I can pick up the bike from it's side(but its heavy) I really enjoy it and don't think you should not consider it because it's too tall. You will get used to it. First time I took this bike for a ride I did 300+ miles in one day highway only. 1- I got used to it in just one day. 2- I got used to ass numbness. aaahhhhhh IMO take it for a ride, If you feel confident buy if, if your not sure don't buy it. get a smaller one.. Maybe a R50
