large acerbis gas tank

Post by brooke_steve@yahoo.com » Thu Nov 29, 2001 10:22 pm

Acerbis made a large gas tank for the KLR 650 through to the 99 model year. As the bikes haven't changed much I'm assuming that this tank will fit a 2000 model! Does anyone have any feedback on this? The tank is smaller than stock but I'm interested as I can't afford to continue buying rad shrouds and it would appear that the Acerbis would offer greater ptotection. I would appreciate any info on this. Cheers Steve B

Topic came up at work during lunch as a coworker now has the motorcycle bug and is enjoying bitching about how nobody makes the motorcycle he wants and looking forward to his Beginer's Class at the H-D dealer and whether or not the dealership will rent him an H-D for a day the day after completing their class. He rather likes the concept of my Pacific Coast. But nothing is made like that any more. The Connie is interesting, but as ancient as the PC. The ST1300 should be great in all ways but its excessive, expensive, and still unobtainium. An ST750 or ST900 or thereabouts would be nice. Or the Deuville. Inline 4's fail to "crank my tractor" (or "spark interest"). So back to Kawaski/Suzuki, I think there is potential for a Connie replacement based on the TL-1000. Think it should not have a chain drive, belt would be interesting. What I'd like is a simple inexpensive modern easy to maintain comfortable motorcycle which can carry 1 plus stuff, or 2 for day trips. The KLR is a bit naked for this purpose. I have a KLX650R-D1 for my off road purposes. -- David Kelly N4HHE, dkelly@... ===================================================================== The human mind ordinarily operates at only ten percent of its capacity -- the rest is overhead for the operating system.
