allen head screws by dohc engine badge?

Post by KLR650@houston.rr.com » Thu Aug 23, 2001 9:57 pm

I'm talking about the allen head screws one on the left and one on the right of the engine next to the "DOHC" badge on the left side of the engine. What are they? I'm in the process of removing my head right now and I'm afraid to remove them and afraid to not remove them. Anyone? Please reply to me directly (It's faster). Gerret A15 with only 530 miles on it in pieces PS. I found a guy who does screw extractions with a sink EDM machine for $35.00 per hour here in town. God bless technology.

500 mile service, valves not adjusted

I had 2 valves out of spec. at 800 mi. inspection. It seems most people's vavles were out of spec. on the first check. I think the best thing to do before having a mechanic check them would be to make sure they TELL you what the clearances are after they supposedly check them!!! If you're suspicious you can then check them yourself when you get the bike back. Phantom Rider Beverly, MA (about 25 miles north of Boston, on the coast) 1985 K100 RS (80,000 miles) 1972 Yamaha CT1 175 (3,000+ miles, currently with some "issues") 2000 Kawasaki KLR 650 (more fun than I probably should be having) If you want to purchase the soon to famous KLR vavle adjustment VIDEO send me a check for 24.00. Ah bahgin (MA speak for a great deal) shipping is included and a portion of the proceeds go towards the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foudation. Drop me an email and you'll get my address. You can see stills from the actual video and all my nutty crazy mods at http://www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark/PhantomRider.html Thanks again MotoMark for listing my junk!
