So it has come to this. I've been looking at the chatterboxes... They
seem pretty cool. They have family channel 2 way radio. May want more
range to communicate. Need comments regarding sound quality for music
input.Then, I met a guy at Laguna Seca with a JMcorp.com communication
system. His system plugs into any source. He had a handheld cb radio
attached to his bike. I bet a ham radio or the new gfms channels would
work too. So I had a brief conversation with his choice while we
waited in line to get in. He said that he wanted more range to
communicate when on rides with his friends. Don't believe the 2 mile
range on the family channels, more like less than half that distance.
The clincher was the connection from the helmet. just plug in an
accordion cord to a small connector at he base of the helmet. No
chatterbox neck from fighting the wind with that big box attached to
one side of helmet.
Question: Anyone with this system? I understand it is a factory option
from Harley,Honda, Arai.
Would like to hear about sound quality and reliability.

helmet speakers and mike question
Check out this helmet speaker/mike setup. You can order it configured for
different radios. My wife and I are ham radio operators and we use them
with 2 Meter Handhelds. Our use is limited to very short range, so we keep
the radios set to the lowest power and actually keep them in our jackets.
For longer range it would be simple to construct an external antenna mount
somewhere on the bike. The antenna will have the most effect on range.
We are happy with this set. It comes with a remote transmit switch which is
strapped to the handlebar. My wife is pleased with the installation in her
HJC full face helmet. I'm not so happy with my Shoei RF900. The speakers
irritate my ears, and there isn't much clearance in the front of the helmet
for the mike. My voice resonates inside the helmet which distorts my
transmit audio.
The MC551 is the one I got.

d'you zit!
This is the last thing the Chaparral salesman told me when I left the
dealership.
Okay now, we ran some industrial strength electrical cable from the top of
the store down to spreading it over the parking lot between two lamp
posts. Meanwhile, we out-fitted the KLR with this big pole and hook which
runs directly into the flux-capacitor. At the calculated moment, you start
off from down the parking lot toward the cable execrating to eighty-eight
miles per hour. According to the sales brochure, at 9:00 pm (closing time)
lightning will strike the Chaparral sign sending one point twenty-one
gigawatts into the flux-capacitor, sending you back to the future.

I think that with the Dynomomium Fuel Ion Separator and the Mushroom Head Expanding Sparking Plug to raise compression, 42 horsepower is certainly not out of the question. I once used the same technique to get 66 HP out of the Honda S-90, enabling me to pull wheelies in third and fourth gears at 85 to 100 mph. Of course, this was back in the old days, during my tenure as nuclear physicist, and the horses weren't as big back then. But Still!
