Hey guys, been reading the list for a while (recently bought an A15, and absolutely LOVING it), and posted a few times. And as much as I love the invaluable techie talk that dominates this list, because I am most definitely not a motorcycle mechanic and all this info is going to help keep me happily riding this A15 for a long long time, my true love when it comes to motorcycle talk is ride reports. I love reading the stories of people riding their KLRs through Alaska or South America. But they get buried quickly on our list (though I find it hard to blame a list for being TOO active and enthusiastic. haha), and quite frankly... there aren't enough of them. With 1400 members on the list, there must be more than just the very occasional crazy ride report I read. Everything from 2 weeks in South Dakota to 2 months in South America, I want to read about it. I am only 22, and have a few decades of adventure riding ahead of me... so I want to chat about trips. Pros and Cons of location. Motorcycles and equipment. I want to see pictures of KLRs stuck in mud in the Amazonian region, or wading through rivers on the South Canol Road in the Yukon Territories. So to that end, my father (another avid Adventure Biker) and I have created a new webpage specifically for Adventure Riding. Not KLR specific (though since this is undoubtedly one of the best bikes for it, plenty of KLR Stuff up there), great for all your adventure riding friends. Check it out, post your ride reports, questions or general bits of wisdom. Nice page. I'll bet it grows quickly. You like riding stories? Alrighty try this one on for size. This is a true story, I made it up just now... It was 120 degrees in the shade, the arid Texas panhandle summer was scorching the earth to an even brown. The same color as the dust in the palored air. Occassionally one would see a dust devil in the distance of the treeless plain. The only movement, the heaving side of a packrat as she panted beneath the shade of a tumble weed. The only sound was the continual click and buzz of grasshoppers as they devoured the few remaining shoots of green from the landscape. Under a flat rock in the long dry gulch lay a rattle snake, quietly awaiting the dusk and the retreat of the penetrating heat. There was a faint vibration detected only by the rattler as he lay in the dust, gently flicking his tounge... testing the air for danger or dinner. Patiently awaiting whatever life would bring his way. Watching for movement, testing the air for scent. Waiting, waiting, the predators game. As the vibration grew the packrat saw a bit of dust that somehow looked out of place. The rat sat and watched with one sleepy eye on the great emptiness that was his world. Then a low rumble sounded. The vibration grew frantic as metal and rubber collided with dust and rock. The snake flicked, the packrat opened her eyes wide. When out of the dust and noise came a big bad green creature breathing fire and spitting smoke (within epa limits of course). And on it's back a wild eyed goggle wearing demon with a flash of color across it's chest. The monster whining and complaining as it was whipped into submission by the master upon her back. Spewing sand, rock and gravel, the monster thundered past the hiding places. The packrat flinched but held firm, the monster didn't see me.. she breathed a sigh of relief. But... The stirred air brought a scent to the rattlers tounge, a taste of what was to come. Survival, sustenance, dinner. The rattler began his slither toward the scent, flicking and sensing the body heat. The packrat sensed something was not right, but couldnt put quite figure out what it was... must've been that demon on the back of that green monster... has me all shook up. When suddenly the packrat caught a glimpse of motion out of the corner of her eye. A wide open Jaw, two dripping fangs. And the packrat froze comprehending the fate that was to come. Then the packrat had a relevation... a glimpse of the recent past, the image of a smaller demon atop a massive monster, and the demon was in control! As the strike came home, the rat jumped and landed flat a top the deadly snakes head. Quickly the rat gnawed the black left eye, then with a whip of her tail she popped the demonic black like an over- ripe blackberry. She quickly scampered off. As the snake writhed in pain, the victimizer now suddenly the victim. The rat sprinted away... and then the vision returned. Her mousey brain couldnt shake the image, the magnificance of a weak creature, a being of seeming insignificance, exersizing total control over the green beast. She returned slinking through the sage to find the deadly rattler trying to orient himself. Blind she thought, that was the answer... With all her agility and spunk that only a brave rat can muster she leapt into the void filled by certain death. Grasping the venemous jaws in her tiny forearms the wrestled herself atop the writhing snake. Like an insane bullrider she fought until at last the rattler lay in defeat. Using all her packrat talents she wrapped her tail around the rattlers deadly jaws and taught that snake who was boss. Some evening when you are riding across the dessert pause and listen. You will hear the familar buzz of an angry rattler and the faint peep of the packrat trying to tame the beast. Tame the beast... but dont get bit, he will eat you for lunch if you let him. That my friends is adventure riding. The rest, well the rest is KLRistory... LOL, kinda got carried away with myself LK have a nice evening, you may hit the delete key now.

I wish I knew what I did. A really important person with lots of money yelled at me today. Makes me want to go back to the first job I ever got fired from - the L.A. Zoo. My job was to deliver frozen hamburgers and fries to all the kiosks around the zoo, and they gave me a small ATV style mini truck. It was Nirvana for two months, pure and simple. The LA Zoo has these incredible sweepers going past all the endangered animals, but management told me I had a bad attitude. Fireball
