continental tkc-80 idela dual sport tire??? nklr
Anybody running a set of Continental TKC-80? Front and back as a set?
Is the 150/70S17 size acceptable on the KLR or is 130/80S17 the prefered rear tire?
http://www.tiresunlimited.com/continental_tkc80.htm
I searched the archives and most of the posting where by one person?
Likes and dislikes? If half the stuff said about TKC-80's is true then they are probably close to being the idela dual sport tire.
Doesn't seem like there is much mention of the tire???

Glen,
Looks like the same tire used in International Trials competition so
would probably be VERY good. Seems like the biggest problem people
have looking for tires is the dirt side. The old story for dirt is
simple... the more radical or agressive the knobs the better. This
looks like a good combination. I will be riding alot of dirt,
including deep sand wash sand so I went with a pretty radical tire:

This is the Kenda K760 and it is only $40 bucks. A lot of people use
the Kenda 270. It looks like a very good dual purpose tire. Take a
look at it!

Anyway, can't vouch for how the Continental rides but the pattern
looks like it would be an excellent dual purpose.

I replaced my stock tire with a TKC-80 on the front last week. Performed perfectly, much better than stock, in the gnarly stuff we were riding in. It was not the cause of my mishaps. I think Joe Labate has a full set, but I don't know if he has mounted them yet. I am running a Dunlop D606 on the rear. It makes enough noise on the highway that I can't comment on TKC-80 road noise.> Anybody running a set of Continental TKC-80? Front > and back as a set? >
I think the tire is rather new. I believe that a better price can be found at http:\www.accwhse.com -Bryan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! You can find a relative comparison of the Continental TKC-80 versus other dual-sport tires at http://www.roadkill.com/~davet/moto/tire.review.html -- Marc, KLR650 A12, Loveland, Colorado, USA> Glen Meyer- A13

I've mounted a set and done one ride so far. A dualsport ride
including tight paved twisties, dirt, and interstate, the tires
performed great. I especially liked the better footing in the dirt.

Interesting link Marc, but unless I missed something,
they didn't review the TKC-80, just the TKC-60/70
which is more street oriented.

Unfortunately, you are right. Now I have to re-find the URL I meant to post.
