oil filter mounting pin

Post by jcklr@hotmail.com » Mon Apr 16, 2001 3:06 pm

When performing my first 'at home' oil change, I noticed that my filter had no mounting pin. Does anyone know if Kawasaki stopped using this pin? Or, more likely, should I suspect my dealer of neglecting to replace it during a previous oil change? Thanks. Jim A14 Trenton, NJ

Hi, It is still used, therefore someone forgot to refit it, probably threw it out with the old filter. You have been running with unfiltered oil so replace ASAP. Brian A14 TE 410E Honolulu, HI [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

That would be the oil pressure relief valve, which is part of your bike. Looks like your "mechanic" tossed it out with your old filter. Mark B2 A2 A3

Oh, boy... that's a real bad thing. I think it would mean you are running unfiltered oil. Call Fred. I think you need Kawa P/N 16156. I think this part also has something to do with the regulation of oil pressure in some magic may that somebody else can probably explain. Whoever changed your oil last threw it out with the old filter. A dealer, right? Pat Austin TX
