Wow that IS a cool KLR looks like a hybrid with the Tengai or at least some kind of beefed up fairing. Also looks like the rear subframe has an extra bar added on (just under the one that holds the rear foot peg). Lotso protection from that bash plate too. Thanks for the pic Raz. dat brooklyn bum

Attachments : Kawasaki needs to sell this bike as the 2002 KLR. I like the extra frame work. That fairing isnt bad either.   motormark

Attachments : All-     Does anyone have any information about this bike? I tried looking in the competitors list for all this years major rallies but there was no #72 ever riding a KLR. The fairing on this bad boy is EXACTLY what I have been looking for (without much success). It looks far too smooth to be a Touratech Beemer fairing that has been hacked up to fit a KLR. What an upgrade in style this fairing would be! Help! Help!   -------- Zack SE DC 1991 KLR650 "Buster" 1986 Concours

And we have a winner! Robb Seurkamp was the first to find that the rider in the green rubber fishing ensemble was racing in the 1988 P-D race. The picture might have come from here: http://membres.tripod.fr/ericblin/dakar_1988.htm I can't find a competitors list for that year that indicates rider #72 on a KLR, the one on http://www.dakar.com/98us/20ans/1988.html is a dead link. Can anyone else find the 1988 competitors list? Could be the one and only year we had a KLR in the P-D! A beer to the successful ferret of such information is on me! ---- Zack SE DC 1991 KLR650 "Buster" 1986 Concours
