Yep, I have to agree. The ZRX is a damn fine commuter also. You never know when you may have to teach a pretty boy in an Acura a thing or two at the stop light. Gino

"Light" handling maybe. Vibes aren't too bad. I've had more sleepy hand from my 4 cyl Honda during extended touring than from my KLR600 (but that might be more of a reflection on the tank range).

If all you want to do is freeways then get a road bike. They are generally more stable, smoother and have much better brakes. Depending on the bike and aerodynamics, the fuel economy might be the same as a KLR's. A big road bike would probably last longer as well. If you want to do some any-road touring as well then a KLR will do everything. Mister_T Melbourne Australia

Mike, I ran a SS1K on mine, I also use it to commute back and forth from work. The KLR is great at highway and freeway speeds. I think Sarah is right, but I like my KLR for all LA riding except for those ballsy taligating festivals at 85 mph on the Ventura or Hollywood freeways. If the Pasadena freeway is moving fast and there's oil on the road, and it's really soaking wet, I guess it won't matter what kind of bike you have. Wear tight leathers, that's for sure. -Jennifer

I use clear number plate film. MXers use it to cover their numbers on their bikes. You can get it at most shops. Gino
