My previous post about cruise control should have included the phrase "completely electronic". Some listers have informed me that there is an automotive type with a vacuum servo that has been adapted to some bikes. The unit I am considering would not use vacuum. The actuator would be a stepper motor. Desired speed could be set by pushbutton once the desired speed is attained, or by a knob on the control pointing to the desired speed. Disengage would be activated by switch, brake application, or clutch disengagement. Ron

Would you be doing this just for fun? I'm not sure there is much of a market. I found myself not using my mechanical cruise control for very long, even during cross-country trips. Stuart

I will at least make one for myself. If there is enough interest, I will consider going through the expense of manufacturing. It doesn't cost all that much to do a prototype, if you exclude your time. Production can tie up some bucks, though. I have always used throttle stops. Hard for me to do without. It sure is a hassle tweaking with them all the time or putting up with the speed changes. Ron

I thought I'd use the mechanical stop more than I did. At first I would try using it for 15-30 minutes, but I admit it didn't modulate throttle for a constant speed and I gave up. After a bunch of miles I just kept my throttle hand moving around so it wouldn't cramp. But I also admit to pushing the KLR to do long slab miles in America, which is a whole lot different than long miles elsewhere. Guru Gino would probably think the electronic throttle control is a dumb KLR idea, so maybe I might buy one after all to match the Russell seat. Peter Dean or Senor Barthell might have something to say about this. Stuart

Riderwearhouse carries the Throttle Rocker now... I've been using them for awhile now and never go anywhwere without it. $8.95 and no tweaking adjustments. Not a cruise control but a hand rest. Conall

Dual-Star ( www.dual-star.com ) also sells them. There is a big difference in hand comfort when using the throttle rocker.
