[dsn_klr650] covered with cable lube again, cable stuck

Post by David Kleber » Wed Aug 02, 2000 10:10 pm

I tried freeing mine up with no luck. I hosed the damn thing down with penetrating oil for 2 days straight and I couldn't get it to move at all. I'd recommend ordering the replacement. -Dave http://www.city-net.com/~davekle/ A8

You didn't have enough patience, it sounds like. I've been pulling it back and forth and hitting it with WD from both ends *wanking it* if you will. It is coming loose. It now returns on spring power about one out of every two or three pulls, almost good enough. Once I eat my leftover pizza and finish my beer, I believe I'll have it freed up, at least well enough to go to Idaho and replace it when I get back, if I can't find one in the meanwhile. This job takes perseverance, that's for sure.

klr painting question

Post by speedgray@aol.com » Thu Aug 03, 2000 7:15 am

Hello Listers: Has anyone on the list had any experience with painting the plastic panels on the KLR? I would think some type of flexible painting used on automotive soft bumpers might work. Comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Speed Gray, K8SG Grand Rapids, MI
