[dsn_klr650] newbie ?'s

Post by Dash Weeks » Fri Apr 28, 2000 1:08 pm

Welcome Zack, Excellent choice on the KLR search. I shudder to think of what I have spent on my bike, but it has far surpassed the $1400 that I paid for it. SS Line, Fork Spings, Progressive rear Shock Spring, new rear shock, Dunlop D606 (rear) Pirelli MT21(front), Paint job, new HO Stator, Upgraded regulator/rectifier, Acerbis Pro Rally hand guards, Moose bash plate, HO headlights (in addition to the stocker w/ a 55/100), new shift lever, new luggage all around, killer tool kit, new chain, new sprockets, new brakes, new clutch, clutch cable, throttle grip sleeve, Running light conversion for Blinkers, O2 sensor, Upgraded electrical system..... G' I hope my wife doesn't read this... new IDS pipe, jet kit, new gel grips, new seat cover..... There's more but they are more or less custom work that I have done personally. At 6'4" 235 pounds, you probably don't have a "Fat Ass". I'm 6'2" 225 with a whopping 12% body fat, and I have all 12% in one place. :) From what I gather we are an average list weight, many bigger and some smaller. Your bike will be able handle near anything you throw at it. You may consider an upgraded rear shock spring for touring loads. LaterZ Dash Who's still technically a (broke nontheless) newbie .... It has a high load capacity and is just as capable if not more than the KLR650. It has a high reliability factor and parts should not be a problem because it will never break.
> >BD >R1150GS >F650GS PD on order
All right SHMUCK, You made me blow milk out my nose and I don't like that. Your's never breaks because you don't ride it, you don't know how to ride it and if you did know how, you wouldn't take it off road where a part failure might occur. You probably wouldn't know how to fix it if it did break. This is most eveident in the mere *fact* that you are considering trailoring your bike to Moab. WTF is a dual sport bike for? Ride on road to dirt then take off road when you arrive. Why not buy yourself a light dirt bike, save yourself the money, have more fun in the dirt and you'll still be able to justify the purchase of your truck and trailer. Real dual sporters ride not drive. I don't give a hairy rats ass what your excuse is, you are an arrogant, ignorant queen wannabe. I personally love BMW bikes, I don't consider them the off road machine that I do my KLR, if you want to spew giz over the Dakar, you go right ahead. I can tour the whole world on my KLR for that much money. Have a wonderful day. laterZ Dash Who doesn't have penis envy. Oh yeah and put your opinions into the NKLR category. Many good folks here filter crap like yours for a good reason. You have ZERO technical knowledge of the KLR and you have nothing relevant to type about the KLR. If you want to boast about how great your BMW is then go to a BMW list to do it. I take that back I have very good friends with BMWs and I wouldn't wish your *ill intentions* upon them. Gino is that you? :) A2 - Da' Bomb No Longer Crashing for Beer Will wheelie for Virgin Oil
