model year vs. miles, durability

Post by Brad Davis » Fri Apr 28, 2000 9:06 am

I am looking to buy a KLR and notice that there are older (5-6 years) low mileage ones available. It seems to me that bikes with less than 10k on the odometer are barely broken in and would be a good buy if in good condition. Does anyone know if there are model years to avoid (like cars) and has anyone rebuilt a KLR engine? I have rebuilt car engines and suppose (hope) a motorcycle engine wouldn't be much more of a challenge. What is the highest mileage anyone has seen on a KLR? I understand the engine/drivetrains are very durable and with proper maintenance can go 30k-40k between rebuilds. Thanks. Brad Davis __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
