Rich, when I did this job, everything just fell apart. I'm looking at the diagram in the manual as I write. I can't see anything that is supposed to hold it in. Have you taken out the other long bolt? The one whose ends are covered by grey plastic inserts? Maybe a few taps with a mallet will cure your problem. I tried to ride the KLR today. Still don't have the strength in the ankle
joint to lift the shifter. Down shifting is much better, no longer have to
kick it down with my heel... But I'd still be a traffic hazard during the
upshifts. So I regretfully pronounced myself stuck in the rental cage for
another week. *sigh* Did get a look at a shiny new PT Cruiser, tho'. I've
got a small case of cage lust...
As for the boyfriend, it's a lovely thought, Bogdan, but that was the other
ankle, and it was 6 months ago. It's mostly healed by now...
