battery tender etc.
Hey Jeff Correct me if I am wrong. hooking up the comon little 2 prong plug to the battery for the tender. I should put a SMALL 2amp fuse in line, because the POSITIVE, BARE one on the bike is always HOT! since the insulated one coming from the tender is the hot and if the litle rubber cap comes off, and hits any metal, ZAP.. grounded. mark (west Mich)

rough idle
Vavles been checked recently ?
First I would get some Seafoam, add to fuel and see if it clears up.
The surge at idle from 1000~2000 rpm all by itself could be a torn diaphram in the carb.
I would still Seafoam it first, sure wont hurt anything. Might as well drain the float bowl.

Sure about that ? would have to check my tender to confirm.
Also if you go to a RV or auto parts store and get a 2-Way Sae connector set you can cut the wires off flush with the body so nothing can make contact, then just plug it into the leads from the battery when Tender is not connected. Thats what I did.
I was thinking the exposed end off the tender was the hot lead.
Also if you p/u some extra 2-way Sae connectors you can add to lawn tractor, ATV ect ect

You have it connected wrong on your battery. On an SAE plug the bare post is negative from the battery. I use these connections on Motorola radios and numerous other applications.

Listers,
Sorry, Juno and Yahoo did the vanishing act again. Here's what I sent.
Best,
Jeff

Mark,
I'd say the exposed prong permanently installed on the bike is ground.
Maybe the wires are backwards on the battery.

Jeff

Ok I rushed. (to much caffeine today) The sae 2 pin connector, I hooked up to the battery so i could just hook up the tender, and use for heated liner what ever. The insulated post is fused to Positive, for using as accesories on bike. BUT the tender's Bare pin wire has a white stripe, (White is USUALY Negitive), Later I found the tenders box with a variety of connectors, Clamps, cigar plug etc., and it shows, the white lead wire / BARE pin is POSITIVE, out of the tender. all is well. THANKS ALL.

Umm I said from the "Tender" is bare, so the battery side is the covered terminal.
Need more coffee.. but honestly used a meter when I connected long ago.. and I have stayed at a Holiday Inn more than once.
