anyone know how protective "thermoplastic resin shell"
vs. "polycarbonate shell" is. Perhaps these are fancy words for
plastic? I know kevlar is the best but are these others adequate?
thinking of buying a dual sport bike (need advise)

I'll agree that the KLR stops just fine on the street, for a dirtbike. I
can lock up my knobbies on dry pavement.
But the braking sucks for a 2002-vintage streetbike. My '78 SR500, with
stock brake setup, stops better.
But since Kawasaki left the bike with streetbike suspension, and a few
other "omissions" that are only appropriate for a streetbike (laughable
stock bash plate, no radiator protection, etc) why not fit streetbike
brakes? Kawi uses twin-piston single-sided calipers to the KLX, the
EX250, some of the cruisers etc. It's not like they have to design a new
caliper.
