I am struggling with my TC, somehow I cannot get off square one.
I have the whole car in pieces including the differential. I already check
the differential, put it back together and primed it. Then I saw stains
around the rivets, and around a pin hole in a bad weld.
I had big plans how to fix it by re-riveting the problem rivets, but I
realized that I probably would do more harm then good. I remember though
reading on the list (can't find the note) about sealing the differential with
a product similar to that recently suggested for sealing the gas tanks. It
looks like my differential has been treated that way by the previous owner,
however, I do not have any information as to how long, if at all, this fix
worked.
If there is anyone that is familiar with this problem and has a
solution/suggestion, I would like to hear from you? Since everything is out
and open, I want to take the opportunity to try to do the best job I can.
I am 52, and I just semi retired on April 30. I expect to make some
serious(?) progress this year on my restoration project. I owned a 68 Midget
in the early 70 which I basically wrecked. I always wanted to own another
MG, preferably a TC. I got my "basket case" about a year ago.
Hope to hear from you. Thanks, Jan Cadik TC/8333 XPAG 9109
