James - the TA/B/C axle has 3 degs. of castor angle built in, the trunnion springs of the TA & TB gave another 3 degs, making 6 in all. The shackled TC springs give 5 degs. or 8 in total. This gives good directional stability, but increases the effort needed to turn the wheels from a straight line, so after TC4251 a taper plate was introduced. It was of 2 1/2 degs. angled, installed with the thich end to the rear, and reduced the castor angle to 5 1/2 degs. Taper plates are stock items from A.S. or Moss, and made of ally these days. cheers Roger James Mumford wrote:
