Having spent the last year trying to get a recorded
traffic offence from my sons record as a juvenile from 25
years ago. . . .I certainly agree with the
consternation of the members.
Before my son was old enough to drive he acquired a
ticket for driving a vehicle (which belonged to a friend)
and for having an out of date license plate.
Since he had not lived in Ohio since 1976 and was a
juvenile at the time. . . when he returned to take up
residence and applied for a driving license he was
denied. Because of this old entry carried in the
computer from before they had them(computers) City of
issue has no record or docket listing. Juvenile court
has no record of the case but BMV will not allow him to
get a license because of it. . . .Meaning--- on
stoppage for a minor traffic offense with a valid but out of
state license, his car is impounded and he is jailed for
driving suspended. This has occured twice(case still
pending, and bond still held) The court in Ohio refused
to recognize his current valid New Mexico driving
license because he has been here for 8 months. The
magistrate in charge of juvenile court cannot release a
record he cannot find and the city of issue refused to
do so, because he was a juvenile at the time..Armed with
a record number reference from BMV we tried all the same
phone numbers again with the same result.......Count
your selves lucky to have only your registrations
questioned.. . . I think we'll resort to TV help
reporters. .. .. Sally

Re: Bureaus of Motor Vehicles
Just out of curiosity, why are YOU the one doing all this for the past year.
I know that if I was the one threatened by the police with being hauled off
to jail for driving with a suspended license, I would take the initiative to
clear my record. I certainly wouldn't expect my mother to do it+ACEAIQAh-
