I've decided to go with a Morris differential (thanks for the idea, TA) and
rather than disassembling a spare TC differential I have so I can swap out
the spider gears I think I read or heard someone say that someone on the
list - or someone knows someone that can - supplies TC axles that will fit
into the Morris spider gears.
Will that someone please post that information again?
Thanks,

Re: TC Axle
I have TC axles for sale with the outer end tapered to repair worn hubs.
When these axles are gone, I will make a new batch and could make them with
either TC or Morris splines on the inside end.
Regards, Bob Grunau

Re: TC Axle
Bob,
Can you explain how a tapered axle works? I assume I'd have to have the hub
modified so the axle would fit correctly - would you also do that or would I
have to have it done elsewhere?
In regard to an axle with Morris splines on the inner and a taper on the
outer, how long do you think it will be before you get around to mfr'ing
those?
Thanks,

Re: TC Axle
Hi Gene,
Yes the hub needs to be taper bored and keyed to accept the new shaft. This
modification is usually done to ensure a TIGHT fit between axle and hub. I
no longer do the boring for US owners as the border crossing is a real
hassle and the Canadian Governments insist on collecting taxes on parts
coming in, and of course make it extremely difficult to recover the taxes
back. Any reasonable machine shop can machine the taper.
I really want to exhaust my existing stock of axles before starting on a new
batch, probably next spring? However, I can see if the machine shop will
make a few axles now and what cost. I would also need to know which Morris
spline is being used, some later Sprites used a fine spline. However most
were 1" shaft with 10 splines. Cost of the axles if I can organize a large
number ( say 50 pieces ) at one time would be about $100.00 US$ each plus
shipping. A few special order ones would be a bit more, not sure how much.
Any help? When do you NEED the shafts?
Bob
