I have a broken hub, speedometer assembly and speedometer cable. I have ordered the gear assembly and a new cable. However I have limited recourse in replacing the front hub. Norm, Fred and company please advise, what would you do in my situation? Please advise and thank you. Ateam stuck in Kentucky [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

<><><><><><> <><><><><><> Ateam, Wattman has a special jig for drilling a hole in the edge of the hub next to the bearing. A cutoff drill bit is installed in the hole and that will drive the speedo tabs/drive. You might contact him about borrowing it. He has saved some pretty nasty hubs with awful damage using this method. Are you stuck because of this situation? If you are you should be able to gut the speedo drive (just remove the large gear) and assemble the speedo drive housing and wheel. You won't have a speedo but you should be able to ride. What is wrong with the speedometer assembly? I have been staying with my mother since August.  I buried her last Sunday.  There is a ton of stuff do do here in Kentucky before I return to New Mexico.  My KLR is my therapy.  Yea there is a bit of tab left on one side but the hub is wasted for sure.  I have looked on eBay, there are a few but leery of buying a 1997 KLR wheel.  The best deal is like $350.  OEM hub and assembly is like over $400 bucks.   Geez.  Thanks for the responses. unless the hub is damaged, and the wheel is bent, a 1997 wheel should need nothing more than bearings, and maybe not even that.I have a 98 wheel (installed) with 65K miles on the original bearings. as far as price, I got a killer deal on a full wheel set with serviceable tires, for $240 delivered.I also scored a front hub for $60.I did my first wheel lacing putting a DRZ400 19" wheel back to 21"; used another wheel for an example and was able to do it (supervised. cough. always supervised) in ~4 hours.I trued the wheel with a 'SHARPIE' and safety wire pointers with the wheel attached to the bike. Keep searching. Good deals and killer deals are out there. Place a request right here as DSN; WTB hub, etc. also, ADV Rider flea market is a good place to place a want ad. http://www.advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=53 You may have to be a member to see the ads. m1.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-KLR-600-1984-Front-Wheel-/321724372320?hash=item4ae8445560&vxp=mtr$49.99 +43.20 shippingThis photo includes the speedo. Will this work?I see the 84 hub is 41034-1106I see the 98 hub is 41034-1153The part number is different...but does not mean it will not work; sometimes the numbers change just because there is an improvement. shrug. My fuzzy memory suggest that it works. grin. Maybe someone here on the list has actually tried/failed/succeeded grafting/cannibalizing a KLR600 wheel.
