Hey I installed the new BEEEEEFY rear shock and TKC-80's. Now the tank slapping started again. It was gone for quite some time, now back again, when I hit 65+ it starts and at 75 WHOA hang on. Feet forward on highway pegs and leaning forward stops it at 70+-. I love the rear shock in turns ETC TEC. it's just a speeds i now have issues, I had John B.'s at 70+- and he runs thae same shocks and tires. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Sounds like too much weight on the rear vs front. Try adjusting your loading, stiffening the rear suspension or lowering the forks in the clamps a bit. -Jeff Khoury

The head bearings made the biggest difference on my bike, although I can see how a light front wheel could cause it too. If you haven't tightened your head bearings, it's worth a try. Also low tire pressures (below 20 psi for me) causes the same problem. Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP BD&C +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

I suggested that because he mentioned shifting weight forward calmed it down. I had the same thing when I loaded my panniers with too much weight behind the rear axle. -Jeff Khoury

Yes, a light front wheel would certainly be prone to that. For sure. Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP BD&C +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

And especially one with "only" 22 PSI. I run 30 PSI Front/35 PSI Rear with no issues. -----Original Message-----

First thing I would check would be the steering head bearings. If really loose you will hear a clunk, say when the front tire goes over a speedbump or down a curb maybe. Dooden A15 Green Ape

It doesn't have to "CLUNK" to make the head shake. Snug 'er up! Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP BD&C +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================
