saskatoon canada???? etc

Post by Bogdan Swider » Sun Oct 07, 2012 11:05 am

I'll now mount the soap box: I live in Colorado that and other places I've ridden, the American Southwest, Mexico and Central America, are considered interesting; Mark is echoing the conventional view the holds the North American Midwest to be boring can I say ride-over country ? I can honestly tell you that I enjoy highway 36 through Kansas as much as 50 across Colorado. For that matter, I loved 185 crossing the Istmo de Tehuantepec ( flat ) as much as CA 1 through the mountains of Guatemala. When I travel flat country I feel like I'm a boat on the ocean; the distant farms on the horizon are like islands. There's always plenty to gaze at and no, I never partake of earphones. I had this attitude from my first experiences touring on a motorcycle. I worked for a year in northern Alabama a mostly hilly region. I found exploring flat areas of nearby Mississippi to be equally invigorating. I don't think one has to force himself to make the best of a bad situation. Just open your mind and your eyes. Bogdan, who's, even now, looking forward to his next trip to see the grandkids in St. Louis but who hopes, next time, it won't be 100 + degrees in Kansas and Missouri From: mark ward > Date: Sunday, October 7, 2012 6:42 AM To: List KLR DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.comDSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com>> Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Saskatoon Canada???? Etc Hey All (any one thats been there) I'm Looking at routes to Alaska, and the satalite maps look like areas above North Dakota, like saskatoon ETC ETC., are just as ..........(Is there a word that is LESS then BORING?) Borihng to ride for days. I would be starting out from Michigan, and debated taking freeways to Seattle, Visit a day, (Or 2, If "The Boss" Has a list ready. LOL) THEN head up. Some have suggested taking the ferry to Anchorage, to save and spend more time IN, Alaska. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

nklr brake lining separated from shoes

Post by Craig Kahler » Sun Oct 07, 2012 1:25 pm

I picked up a 250 virago as a fixer-upper. When I got it the rear wheel was locked up. After a lot of rocking back and forth I was able to get it to brake free. I adjusted the brake and it seemed fine, so I procceded to fix up other issues. When I took it for the first test ride, the rear brake stopped working. When I checked the pads, I found pieces of lining in the drum and none on the shoes. Any ideas on what caused this. Craig [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
