Ways to "Up-grade" a HEAVY F250 (3/4ton) truck = turn it into a light duty f150 (1/4ton) I did up size the rotor and Better pads (per Johns advice) Do to I carry ALOT of gear on trips. (camping, rain, Flyfishing, including waders, etc.) and have made some pretty hairy FAST stop's, on highways & freeway's any harder, and the front wheel would have been sliding. I haven't tryed locking them. SO OVERSIZE with BETTER GREEN PADS Will do. Lighter? Woud it handle all the extra weight and gear, and freeways? I almost bought a KTM 990, Or F800, But found with fuel injection comes a computor, That equals = NO BUMP STARTING, when far from anywhere and you have low voltage for what ever reason. (oop's I left the key on.) I LOVE MY KLR650 WART'S AND ALL (Ya dump a HOT, RICH, woman, with WARTS, But NOT a KLR. LOL)

It is "possible" to make a stronger frame out of lighter material or even use a stressed engine design (maybe). It is definitely possible to make a lighter muffler. How about an alloy fuel tank. It's steel, right? Allow bars. Alloy swing arm. Delete rear fender B.S. For the new ones, the fairings need to get way lighter or go away. Forks? Dunno. Triple-tree? Alloy? Robert Wichert P.Eng. Keeping the bike so simple is what keeps the price down. But, I would easy like go for a few more 100 bucks with FI.
