Hi all! I forgot a few things in my original post. I'm gonna give up my 2006 red and black KLR. It has the following upgrades.
Corbin flat seat. (Reallly nice for long rides)
1" handlebar risers (also nice for long rides)
Doohickey upgrade
Valves adjusted at 5000 miles.
Fresh battery this spring.
New Metzeler Sahara tires and new o-ring chain this spring, about 300 miles ago.
Tank vent system upgrade
Rear luggage rack on top, still can access tools.
Side racks with really nice Pelican cases set up for quick mount/dismount
Lower and smaller front fender (kind of like a Tengai) Really helps the stability in crosswinds
Bigger plate on bottom of kickstand so it won't fall over in soft dirt.
I bought this bike new in 2005 and have put all the miles on it myself.
It has been down once. I high sided it at about 15 mph. The only thing hurt on the bike was the handlebar grip protectors and lever, which have been replaced with new stock parts.
Me, I wasn't so lucky. I basically protected the bike with my body, gaining a couple of broken ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken shoulder blade in the process. I'm a self employed repair person with a pretty physical job and I decided that as much fun as this bike has been, I just couldn't afford to put myself out of work like that again. Plus my son, who I usually ride with, is moving away.
I am willing to ride the bike to you if we make a deal (two, three hundred miles, perhaps?). I am located in Bonanza, Oregon, which is located some 20 miles from Klamath Falls, Oregon.
I'm going to take some pictures and should have them ready to e-mail in a day or two.
This bike is adventure ready and I wouldn't hesitate to head across the US with it as it is right now.
If you are looking for a nice touring package ready to go, this bike should fit the ticket. I'm asking 3500. That's a firm price, If I can't get I'll keep the bike. It's set up just how I wanted to get one set up.
I also have the stock seat and front fender which can go with the bike and the tools for changing the doohickey which I will send with it if I get a good transaction going with a dedicated KLR fan.

stuck choke cable
Hey all... keeping it compact....
Tore it all down and the cable to the carb (though not disconnected at that end) seems to be OK.
Do not have a garage. Do not have a manual. (and I can not afford one)
Would appreciate pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance
