Assuming the bike started fine before you did the work, look for things that could have been disturbed by the work. The first thing that comes to mind is your start enricher. Did the cable become dislodged somehow? Did you have the tank off? Check the petcock vacuum line.

The starter cranks the engine over, right? If not, check the kill switch.

plugged idle jet?

That method worked for me Jud. I drained the fuel from the float bowl, then removed the fuel line from the petcock and introduced some sea foam. Then, with the fuel line reattached and the kill switch off, I punuched the starter a few times to suck the mixture up through the jets, then I let it sit overnight. Today I was able to start it without the choke and it idled well. Mission accomplished! Now I'm ready to ride up to the Central Region ADV rally up in Eagle River, WI. Kevin

Sometimes the vapors will work on the varnish in the pilot jet to the point where it will pass fuel. > > If it doesn't work, you can still pull the carb. Started right up, but died when I closed the choke lever. With the choke on it would bog at small throttle settings, but only stumble briefly if I wacked the throttle open and ran. I rode it for a half hour or so, but it didn't improve and the bike would stall if I closed the enricher. Guess I'll be pulling the carb for a cleaning. Or maybe try the "tilt the carb to the right" approach. > > > > Anyhow, before I trudge out to the hot garage, are we agreed it sounds like the pilot jet? > > > > Kevin > > >
