klr radiator testing

Post by Ian Francisco » Tue Jul 10, 2012 12:23 pm

You guys are trying to re-invent the wheel. Some of you may recall Bill Watson did all this research long ago with a very careful scientific method including measurements and has posted his findings here: http://watt-man.xanga.com/ Perhaps the above link should be made into a "sticky" somehow. His "Thermo-Bob" 195 degree radiator housing with bypass system is intended to keep operating temperatures optimal in cold weather, which the stock system does not do. What it does not do is keep the system cooler in hot temperatures. There are a few things you can do; modify the shroud or remove it, etc. Read all about it at the above link. Me, I live in SoCal where it gets pretty hot and what I've done is just run good Engine Ice coolant, install a fan switch and hack one of the louvers out of the front fender to increase airflow (A14 pre-08). With a little anticipation on the fan switch, overheating can be avoided completely. -- ian http://www.scarletfuries.com http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Scarlet-Furies/121218125931 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

eaglemate trailers

Post by Tony » Thu Jul 12, 2012 8:27 am

The one thing I did not like about the few trailers I looked at below, is that they have pretty small wheels, giving a much rougher ride on potholes and ruts and so on. Not as much of an issue on good paved or dirt roads, although smaller wheels turn faster and thus put more wear on bearings. The main reason I chose the bicycle trailer I have, is that it has exactly the same wheel size as my recumbent trike, allowing me to carry just one set of spare tubes / tires and so on. It also rides a fair bit better than other bicycle trailer, most of which come with 16" wheels. Just a comment, no experience with any form of moto-trailer. ________________________________ From: Skypilot To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2012 10:01 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: Eaglemate trailers FOUND IT!!!!. Just had to hunt through all those old links. The trailer I had seen up at Americade several years ago was called a monogo. Less DS and more street oriented than the Trail tail but it would be perfect for fishing types do to the longer storage container. My current list is below. Monogo - http://monogo.com/ Trail Tail - http://www.trailtail.com/wordpress/ Moto-Mule - http://www.moto-mule.com/trailers.html Unigo - http://www.uni-go.com/ Mono-trail, not yet - http://www.mono-trail.co.uk/ Lumps that would go well with cruiser type bikes. http://www.cyclope2000.com/intro_2002.swf http://www.thirdwheeltrailers.com/ http://www.armoricdesign.com/
