snow at 6600 feet in death valley

Mark Ward and I are in Death Valley National Park. Mark flew into Seattle and we trailered my KLR and my DRZ down. We met some more folks from the Seattle area, a few KLRs a DRZ, a Beta and some KTMs. Some of the group went from Panamint Springs , through Goler Canyon and over Mengle Pass. All of the non-KLRs ran out of fuel and were tankered from the mighty KLR. So some of the KTM crowd are a bit more restrained in their enthusiasm for their orange steeds as they would still be in the back county had they not been riding with some KLRs J. And of course the KLRs made it over the same country that the KTMs did, maybe a bit slower but over none the less. I rode my hot rod DRZ435 and greatly missed the grip heaters, electric vest and comfortable Corbin seat. Mark was comfy but I was cold all day. It is unseasonably cold here and rainy, I could have stayed in Seattle and experienced that weather L Probably won't have WiFi tomorrow but we will post ride updates as we find WiFi signals. Death Valley is definitely NOT the place to run out of gas. Happy trails, and ride safe.

Mark and I hit snow near the Charcoal Kilns, about 6600 feet ASL. Under the inch and a half of snow was good traction so we made it through with D606s on the rear wheels. I have a MT21 front on the DRZ and a TKC80 front on the KLR, no need for snowchains! [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
