careful out there!

Alcoholism and Addiction are not diseases. Cancer is a *%&G^ing disease. HIV is a disease. Cerebral Palsy is a disease. They're compulsions... and that's another thing entirely. The whole "it's a disease" thing was made up by people who want to be coddled for giving in to their compulsion. I'm sorry if I sound like an a-hole, but I speak the truth. I'm addicted to cigarettes, but I'm under no illusions that it's a disease. I'm addicted to them and I haven't made the decision to control my compulsion. I don't need to be lumped in with people who have Ebola or something. /rant off.

I believe it needs to be a murder rap to insure someone who would so willingly throws away life isnt allowed back on the street. Alcoholism and addiction may be diseases but that doesn't excuse their action. Jail, or some other, means of insuring they can pose no threat to society. A trial and a guilty/not-guilty verdict are still important -- but it's hard not to think the defendant should not be driving during that time --- for all our safety. It is like pointing a gun at someone and having it go off accidently. You still pointed the gun at them, so you killed them. People in this country need to accept that just because they drink themselves doesnt mean drinking and driving isn't a major crime. The sooner the courts start prosecuting drunk drivers for the criminals they are the sooner we can stop hearing so many tragic stories like this one. The water doesn't technically expire; it's packaging is only rated to keep the water clean and free of contamination for a certain period of time.
