help! starting issue??

Hey I took the cluth cable off to lube, & cleaned the clutch safty switch. It can only be assembled one way, do to Notching and wires. It will start in neutral if the cluch is out, pull it in, and nothing. If I remember right..... it should, start in or out of gear, with the clutch pulled in? Mark (W. Mich.)
