exhaust question /answers

Jim, I'm with Jeff. I did a "tweetyectomy" on my 09's OEM muffler and the sound is healthy (deeper) being intrusive. One of the owners of a local bike shop compliments the resulting sound whenever I am over there. Figuring they've heard many-many bikes, I count it as qualified praise. ;) I opted to bolt on a replacement sport bike muffler outlet I bought online vs. the welding.{photos offline by request} Figure in the cost of a good bimetal hole saw on top of that and I'm in it for around $50. eddie transalp1@...

muffler shop 20 bucks to do the welding for me.

loud.

I heard that the post 07s have catalytic converters to make them pollute less; is that true? Must be a roaster on a hot day. Jardine RT4 Aluminum Slip On Exhaust 84-10 KLR650...But they show the same exhaust for all years...So, I gather if you change a late model exhaust you are taking off the cat? I figure a new Jardine RT4 costs about $300. I got a used one for $60...figure it will cost me $80 total after repacking; even if it has a couple of scratches. J#3
