any blue ridge parkway advice??

Post by mark ward » Wed May 18, 2011 10:07 am

Hey Al I may be hauling the Touring Bike on the back of a friends an RV South To Fl., OR get off in Tn. Ga. etc. and ride the Blue ridge parkway from bottom to top, then to Erie Pa. and Hm. (W. Mich) ANY Advice for where to Start and stop, MOST SEE places, Good Eats, cheap CLEAN sleeping, (camping??) Etc.. The web "says" Start in Cherokee Nc. (to) end in waynesboro Va. (Just an Example) Many know that Tail of the dragon is a VERY short part of a great RIDE/VISIT, It's just the best Promoted part, That we would miss ALOT if thats all we road or took the time to see. Or spend TO MUCH if we only stayed and ate at "Tourist traps". Thanks Mark (W. Mi.) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

1. Don't hit a deer like I did in the Meadows of Dan, VA. 2. Camp at the Willville Motorcycle Campground (http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/), keep your beer cool in the stream there. 3. Ride Skyline Drive, but watch for cops. Definitely don't pass RVs in no-passing zones. 4. Take a cave tour, ( Shenendoah Caverns is cheaper and not as crowded as Luray) 5. Buy some local honey, jellies, etc. at roadside stands. 6. DO NOT camp at a government-run installation (state or national park). They suck because they're over-run with obnoxious people who don't know how to camp. Mark Hey Al I may be hauling the Touring Bike on the back of a friends an RV South To Fl., OR get off in Tn. Sylmar and FootHill, that my old hood! Back when I lived there you would see more horse ranches than condo's! It always pissed to me so much when they would use that section of the freeway for movies and you would be trying to get home and had to wait in traffic and those frigging Hollywood people finished there shoot!
