you guys were right (again)
First of all thanks to all who responded to my question of why my KLR was running crappy and backfiring. THe majority of you said to adjust the valves. You then went further and posted links to how I can do this, valve calc., youTube video, etc. So I took the plunge and did it. My bike runs smooth and like new. You guys were right again. By the way, when I went into the dealership to trade in my old shims for the ones I needed, (they traded me strait across) I saw that the dealership is charging $567.00 for a tune up with valve adjustment. So here is a question: what kind of tools would you buy with 500.00?
Once again thanks for the advice.
Robin
P.S. I'll buy a shim set from the guy who sold my doo hickey thing. It was from this group.

One each of a 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2" torque wrench if you don't have any of the
above, many tanks of gas and cold beer for after every ride....have a great
Friday.....Greg

That is the lift I have, I HIGHLY recommend it...but the wheel vise is woefully bad. Their is a seller on e-Bay that sells a very worthy upgrade for $40 some dollars.
