O about 30 or 40 years ago NASCAR invented a little dingus called "The Restrictor Plate" and I switched to sailboat racing for some REAL cut-throat , balls-to-the-wall competition... not a bunch of Deux Chevaux going in circles. Ya'll hear what I'm saying? http://www.nascar.com/news/110113/restrictor-plate-size-thunder/index.html == charlie

As a former sailboat racer, I hear you. Sailboat racers have to be smart. The hardest kind of racing I have ever done......My wife and I decided to not race sailboats anymore....to stay married. Canoe racing, that's another cut-throat kind of racing.

I hear you, Charlie. Shakespeare foretold the NASCAR phenomenon 400 years ago. "A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
-Macbeth , Act V, Scene 5.
Or was he talking about Harley Davidson?

You guys are missing out. Restrictor plate races have now turned into war games, with partnerships being the key to victory. Two cars together are faster than one (obviously) but oddly two cars together are faster than three, four, or more cars together, and the lead car in the pair needs to drag his brakes to maintain the higher speeds. I can explain this to you, if it's too complicated (yes, dragging the brakes increases their speed!). Discussion here: http://nascar.speedtv.com/article/cup-everyone-looking-for-mr-right/
Check out the last thirty laps of Talladega last year at http://www.nascar.com/2010/races/lapbylap/10/31/lap-by-lap-talladega-2/index.html?eref=/news/headlines/cup&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Lead change, lead change, lead change
Definitely NOT a boat race.

These are good for us bar hoppers.

Clip it to the right side twist grip. If you ignore that, you are over the limit.

I found a very compact, new, full nylon cover on eBay for $1! (+$13 shipping). It covers the KLR completely, even with the saddlebags in place, and packs down into a bag that will stuff inside my helmet (example). It keeps the honest folks honest and the bike clean when parked at a trail head while I'm off exploring. The disc lock seems like a good investment. Just be triple sure you remember to remove it before getting on the bike! =) eddie > [Original Message] > From: imfreelandian > To: > Date: 1/17/2011 9:39:10 AM > Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re:Re: Alarms > > Thanks to all who responded to my post. I think that for now I will go with a Zena alarm/disc lock and a 3/4 cover. I'll be able to use these on nearly any bike. I am still considering a more comprehensive system, for both bikes. > Eddie's suggestion about the empty holster, serious or not, seems like a great idea when parked at hiking trails. > > Gerry > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > List Sponsors - Dual Sport News: http://www.dualsportnews.com > Arrowhead Motorsports: http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com > List FAQ courtesy of Chris Krok: http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html > Member Map: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSN_KLR650/app/peoplemap/view/map > Group Apps: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSN_KLR650/grouplets/subscriptionsYahoo!
