Ah, the old "invisible residue" theory. If there's anything to it, how come your chains don't last longer than they do for the guys who use WD40? How come nobody who subscribes to it can even tell us how long their chains last? How come the grease in my pores doesn't help when I pull my... Never mind. I have a feeling the chain companies or the racers have not tested anything. Nor have the chain lube companies, because if they did, and if you learned the results, you would have no reason to buy their product. If I recall correctly, the last time I read a chain company's advice, it was to lube with motor oil. That seemed reasonable; motor oil is an excellent lubricant. I tried it, and trashed a chain in 5000 miles. So much for the chain-maker's advice. Interestingly enough, I had read ZDNet Week in Review this morning informing us that it s baaaaaaack, saw rev s post this afternoon, came home, got my email, was browsing movie ratings, and Bazinga Windows Security Alert popped up.

I nuked it. Will do a full scan and see if it left some pieces of itself behind.

Sadly I have made quite a bit of money the last few days cleaning up this latest Virus. Virus removal, while lucrative, is a part of my job I don't like to do.
