doohicky

Post by spike55_bmw » Fri Nov 19, 2010 5:24 am

I've noticed that the post-'07 doohickeys are more robust (a one-piece cast unit that is machined) than the pre-'08 version (welded together) and probably less prone to fracture. Like you said, Kawi still has spring problems and the torsion spring is a worthwile upgrade if not a necessity. Don R100, A6F

I've got an 09 with 2,000 miles and the factory doohicky was loose on the shaft and the spring had no tension at all. Would highly recommend doing the mod if you want your KLR to last. Also the Thermo-Bob is great. Befor the install my bike barely ran a needle width above cold and now it runs a constant warm temperature. I've road it in the 40's and the 80's and temp stays the same. Good luck to all. > > Brad > 09 KLR >
