nklr but more why don't they make a ___ ?

The list of improvements is impressive, but they don't include the bottom end. AFAIK, it still has a roller crank, which even on the BMWs of the '60s was a 40,000 mile bottom end. (The Ural is essentially a 1938 design.) That interval might be doubled with modern detergent oils and 1000-mile oil changes. (If you ever saw how those oil slingers can fill up with centrifugally impacted sludge, you would want to change oil about every other tank of gas). I have heard anecdotes of 70,000-mile longevity, but I doubt there are enough Urals racking up the kind of mileage necessary to establish a track record. A few people are riding them hard, but it's still essentially a novelty bike.

Yes, God has forgiven me, but I still look back on that sin with nostaglia. In the case of a Ural, dual purpose means on the job maintenance training and riding skill training. > > They have made major advances in the dependability of the Ural. > http://vimeo.com/9444789 > > Larry. >
