suspended animation

Rode the GL1800 approx. 620 miles round trip yesterday to Deal's Gap just to get my girlfriend out of the house.
We're still a couple. So, there's hope, right?
Anyhow, today I was too tired to want to get out much & decided to grease the rear suspension on the KLR.
I have a center stand and all the tools. So, why not? *If you ever have thoughts like this, STOP. Take two Tylenol(tm) and go do something else.
You and your not yet bleeding knuckles have been warned!

Everything went great until I took out the alloy thing where the shock and dogbones attach.
Removing it from the frame was a small hammer tap's worth. Going back in, it took 30 minutes of frustration to realize the frame gets squeezed ever so little by the rear engine mount bolt - preventing reinsertion of the pivoty part's inner bearing race (tube like part made out of something stupid hard).
After I coerced the engine mounting bolt loose a tad, the frame "relaxed" all went back together smoothly. I had no leftover parts and the bike still works {always a plus}.
Like someone here said, smear enough waterproof grease in every crack & crevice and it should be good for many thousands of miles.
It should be noted I was foolish enough to do the work above in the driveway, by myself and with no other support for the bike than the center stand.
I didn't have to take the footpegs off, either. That made retightening the engine mount bolt a pain in the backside.
Again. Do not attempt this. Your sanity may suffer.
