nklr: free speech and the fallen

Post by albatrossklr » Sat Oct 09, 2010 6:54 am

Hi folks, before I ride today; a missive on the picketing of fallen soldiers funerals and a request for you. I believe strongly in the right of free speech and do not want the supreme court to rule against the picketers, but I do want these people to stop picketing the funerals. Perhaps if someone starts picketing their church with signs that are insulting and hurtful to the parishioners they will stop, don't know. I do know that I will run interference, trying to block the picketers with a big sign saying THANK YOU for your service, at any funeral close enough to where I live. The short & long of this is that I believe this church should show compassion for the family of the fallen and not picket the funerals. My grandmother would say that would be the "Christian" thing to do. Since they will not stop I ask you to contribute your time (if you believe as I do) to block the soldiers family from seeing the picketers when you can. a sad albatross (who appreciates your tolerance)
