oregon m/c plates are ugly! & battery chargers

Post by Richard Decker » Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:02 am

Yup, I finally found the title to my KLR, so I was able to transfer the registration from Washington to Oregon! Mind you, I moved here three years ago :0) And yes, the plates are ugly! (But good for two years :) ) Yellow back ground and blue lettering... yuck. I went and tried to start it last night, and of course it had a dead battery. I hooked up my new Harbor Freight 2/10/50 amp charger for about three hours at 2 amps, stuck it in the bike and went on a 2 hour victory putt around the block. I also just ordered a trickle/float charger for the bike. I picked up the CTEK 800 for $40 from Amazon. ($10 less then JC Whitney) it comes with traditional clips for normal batteries AND ring terminal connections for installation on the bike. Both wires have a modular plug, unfortunately it's not the standard automotive kind. Here's the charger. http://www.ctek.com/EN-US/consumer/us-800.aspx And here's the info that made me atleast try it: http://www.ctek.com/EN-US/corporate/default.aspx In 2002, shortly after the German automobile manufacturer Porsche launched its first battery charger on the market, the company showed an interest in CTEK's new battery chargers. One year later, the first OEM battery chargers had been delivered. After an exhaustive study of alternative suppliers around the world even Mercedes appointed CTEK as its official partner. Since then, more have followed suit. Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Artic Cat, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Maybach, Scania and Yamaha have also decided to use CTEK s battery chargers with their own trademark. If it's good enough for a Ferrari... it's good enough for my KLR ;) -- - Rich Decker Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
