I loosen the top pinch bolts, then lift the top triple-tree up to make room to get a pair of channel-loks onto the adjuster (note that I have the gas tank off while doing this, else things are *way* too crowded down there). I then adjust the drag, and push the top triple-tree back down and put the big bolt back on. This is probably "wrong", but works for me.
